WBC with 5-part differential in just 5 minutes
For many years, C-reactive protein (CRP) has been the standard parameter for infection screening in primary and family care settings. To enhance specificity, clinicians can add WBC with differential to their point-of-care testing, thereby improving diagnostic accuracy. Additionally, using white blood cell count (WBC) with differential allows for the calculation of the neutrophil/lymphocyte count ratio (NLCR), providing an additional parameter for assessing the severity of infection and ensuring appropriate initiation of antibiotic treatment. In addition, a WBC count may be clinically relevant for conditions other than infections, e.g., suspected hematological malignancies, toxic marrow suppressions, unexplained and severe anemia.
